The 61st Lind Reunion at Fridhem Lutheran Church, Funk, Nebraska


Welcome to the internet site especially designed for all the members of the extended Svante Lind family. Our family is over 1600 persons, now into the seventh generation since the father and mother of our family came to the United States from Sweden.


Their sod house, north and east of the town of Funk, was built on the Nebraska prairie in the Spring of 1879.

 

Svante and Anna Kajsa Lind left Sweden to make a better life for themselves and for their children, settling first in Hampton, Illinois, and finally in Phelps County, Nebraska, where they farmed, helped start a school, a church, supported other immigrants and raised their family.

For many decades we have designated six branches of the Lind tree, named for each of the six Lind children who married and created families: the Lovisa Branch, the Thure Branch, the Mathilda Branch, the Emil Branch, the Ida Branch, and the Augusta Branch.

In August of 1950, at Fridhem Lutheran Church in the small village of Funk, Nebraska, the six branches of Linds held a reunion. Since that first summer, the Lind family has joyfully come together each August — every year since 1950, for a Lind Reunion.

This web site is for all Linds around the globe; eight generations and growing, who honor our ancestors and ourselves by remembering our heritage.

August 5-7, 2011 at the
Carol Joy Holling Conference & Retreat Center, Ashland, NE.
